What is VPN
VPN (literally means virtual private network) is a service that transmits your internet traffic through an encrypted tunnel and anonymizes your ip address. But what does it mean in simple terms?
Imagine you leave your house and see a stranger rummaging through your mailbox. Or, for example, someone taps into your phone line and listens to your conversation with your doctor as you discuss sensitive information. I don't think you'd like that, would you?

The mailbox and phone conversation in the examples above are essentially analogous to your ip address and traffic on the intenet. And if there was an analog of VPN in real life, then a stranger would not be able to physically dig through your mailbox, because he would not be able to find out where you live, and an intruder eavesdropping on your phone conversation would hear only hisses or beeps instead of the conversation itself.
Thus, VPN is a tool, first of all, allowing you to keep your privacy and security on the Internet, but not only. You can read all the advantages of using a VPN in this article.
